Skin booster is an umbrella term rather than a single product. What matters is matching the right one to your skin, which is a conversation rather than a menu choice.

What it is

Skin boosters are injectable treatments aimed at hydration and skin quality rather than at shape or volume. Small amounts are placed into the skin across an area.

More than one product sits under this heading. LumiPro and Profhilo work in related but distinct ways, and suit different skin and different concerns.

Most are given as a course rather than a single session, because the effect builds gradually.

None of them will change your facial structure. If the thing bothering you is volume or shadowing, a booster is not the answer and I will tell you so.

Who it suits, and who it does not

It may suit you if

  • Your skin looks dull, dry or tired rather than deflated.
  • You want a gradual freshening rather than a visible change in shape.
  • You are willing to have a short course rather than a single appointment.
  • You are in good general health, and not pregnant or breastfeeding.

It is not for you if

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You have an active skin infection or inflammation in the area.
  • You want an immediate or dramatic difference.
  • You have a fish allergy and are considering a product derived from fish DNA. We go through this at the consultation.

On the day

Aftercare and recovery

You are not left on your own afterwards. If anything does not feel right (pain that is unusual or increasing, significant colour changes in the skin, or anything that simply worries you), contact me straight away rather than waiting. Being able to reach the medical professional who treated you is the whole point of being medically led.

This is general guidance, not personal medical advice. The aftercare instructions you are given at your own appointment always come first.

Pricing

Prices are a guide and confirmed at your consultation. Which product suits you is decided there, not in advance.

Common questions

What is the difference between a skin booster and filler?

Filler is placed to add volume and hold a shape. Skin boosters are placed to improve hydration and skin quality across an area, and do not change your facial structure.

Which skin booster is best?

There is no single best one. They suit different skin and different concerns, which is exactly what the consultation is for. Anyone recommending one before seeing your skin is guessing.

How many sessions will I need?

Most are given as a course. LumiPro is commonly three sessions and Profhilo two. We agree the plan once I have assessed your skin.

When will I see results?

Gradually, over the weeks of the course rather than on the day. These are slow treatments by design.

Is there any downtime?

Very little. Small raised bumps at the injection points for a few hours, and occasionally a small bruise. Most people carry on as normal the same day.

Can I have a skin booster and filler together?

Often yes, but usually not in the same appointment. We plan the order and the spacing at your consultation.

Do skin boosters work on the under-eye?

Some are, but whether that is the right approach depends on what is actually causing the appearance, which needs assessing in person. Polynucleotides are often the better option for the under-eye.
